PQM+ in Panama provides technical assistance to two key stakeholders — Panama's National Medicines Regulatory Authority (Dirección Nacional de Farmacia y Drogas, DNFyD) under the Ministry of Health and the Specialized Institute of Analysis (Instituto Especializado de Analisis, IEA), the national quality control laboratory (NQCL) — to strengthen the country's regulatory capacity. PQM+ technical assistance focuses on strengthening DNFyD’s medicines marketing authorization function and IEA’s laboratory and testing capacity and improve its ability to ensure medical product quality. PQM+ is also assisting the University of Panama’s Faculty of Pharmacy to further capacitate and prepare the future regulatory workforce.

To achieve this, PQM+ collaborates with key stakeholders, including the National Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Secretaría Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología, e Innovación, SENACYT), the main entity coordinating implementation of the action plan for local pharmaceutical development and manufacturing.
